CONVERTER / CSV → MARKDOWN

CSV to Markdown Table

Turn CSV into a Markdown table for README files, issues and documentation. Keep cell values as text, choose column alignment, then copy or download. Everything stays in your browser.

How to convert CSV to a Markdown table

Paste CSV or open a UTF-8 file, select Alignment, then choose Convert to Markdown. Copy the table into a GitHub README or download the .md file. The first parsed CSV record supplies the headers; data rows and columns keep their order.

Input limits

Use up to 5 MB per input with non-empty, unique headers and consistent records. Blank records are skipped. Markdown output is limited to 10 MB, including escaping and table syntax. Use a smaller CSV or select fewer columns if the result is too large.

Frequently asked questions

How are Markdown characters, HTML and line breaks handled?
Pipes, backslashes and ASCII punctuation are escaped so emphasis, code and Markdown link syntax stay literal. User HTML is encoded as text, including a literal <br>. Only actual cell line endings generate controlled <br> tags. The editor shows Markdown source, not rendered HTML. Viewers may still automatically link web or email addresses.
Are IDs, spaces or row order changed?
No automatic typing is applied: 001 stays text. The existing CSV parser trims header names, requires unique non-empty headers and skips blank records. Data row and column order are preserved. Boundary whitespace and tabs use character entities to avoid table trimming; a viewer may visually collapse repeated spaces. Left, Center and Right alignment apply to every column.
Can I convert headers without data, and what do the counts mean?
Yes. Header-only CSV creates a header row and delimiter row with zero data rows. Counts exclude the header and include every column. Empty cells stay empty. Empty or malformed CSV is rejected. Editing the source or Alignment clears old results and disables exports. Use example and Clear reset Alignment to Left.
