How to find and replace CSV values

Paste or open CSV, enter Find and Replace with, and choose All Columns or Selected Column. Choose Contains or Exact Cell, optionally enable Ignore Case, then select Replace text. Check the counts and copy or download the CSV.

Input limits

Use UTF-8 CSV up to 5 MB per input with unique, non-empty headers and consistent records. Find must not be empty; an empty replacement deletes matches. Results are limited to 25 MB to prevent excessive expansion. Formula-like output receives an apostrophe for spreadsheet safety.

Frequently asked questions

How do Contains and Exact Cell work?
Contains replaces every non-overlapping occurrence of the literal Find text inside each chosen cell. Exact Cell replaces only a whole-cell match. Ignore Case starts off and uses Unicode case-insensitive matching without trimming spaces or normalizing accents. Find is never treated as a user-written regular expression; symbols such as .* and [] are literal.
Can I delete text or insert special characters?
Yes. Leave Replace with empty to delete matches. Replacement text, including $, $&, backslashes, quotes, commas and line breaks, is inserted literally. Only values in the chosen scope are edited. Headers, column order and record order stay intact, subject to the existing header validation and formula-safe CSV export.
What do the counts mean, and what if nothing matches?
Counts include parsed data records, records with changes, changed cells and replacements that actually change text. Identical replacements count as zero; Exact Cell counts one replacement per changed cell. No matches and header-only inputs still produce a downloadable CSV. Blank records are skipped. Input or setting changes clear old results and disable exports; Clear resets every field and option.
